Leading by Doing Our Own Bush Fire Survival Plans

Helen Riedl
Malua Bay Brigade Community Safety Officer
NSW Rural Fire Service

There is an old adage ‘practice what you preach’. Having community trust and leadership by example are important elements in successful social action programs. The Malua Bay Brigade ensures that all members have an up-to-date Bush Fire Survival Plan.
If all volunteers and those close to them have plans and are well prepared, the NSW Rural Fire Service will be leading by example and positively influencing sought after behavioural changes.
